    Change The World Through Data

Companion Healthcare in the battle against COVID-19 – Mislav Malenica

In this talk, Mislav Malenica from Mindsmiths will share with us his experience with building an AI-based product, Andrija.ai - during the Corona crisis. Andrija is a digital assistant of Croatian Ministry of Health which helped in a struggle against coronavirus. Jan will cover how did the process of creating an AI-product in short notice looked, what were the difficulties of communicating with a lot of interested parties, as well as what is behind Andrija.ai.

    Program starts at 9:15 CET.

Applying Computer Vision to traffic density estimation using public cameras - Nemanja Micovic

Nemanja Micovic is Machine Learning Researcher at Nordeus and Teaching Associate at the University of Belgrade. In his inspiring talk, Nemanja will lead us through the world of Computer Vision and how we may apply it to predict traffic jams using public cameras. Nemanja is working on this project as a part of his Ph.D. research, so you may expect a lot of tech & geek language used in his talk, covered with the latest algorithms, as well as what he has learned so far.

    Program starts at 9:45 CET.

Data Discussion: “How to start an AI Startup?” - Hajdi Cenan, Filip Panjevic, Darko Jovisic

Developing any kind of entrepreneurial venture is a challenge for itself. Building an AI startup in Southeastern Europe may be just one small addition to this task. In this inspiring discussion you will get a chance to hear how did our panelis end up in AI startup & what does your AI Startup do, what is the process from idea to realization of AI Startup, what are the biggest costs of running AI Startup & where did you find funds for it, as well as their lessons learned in this process. Panelist are going to be Hajdi Cenan, Co-founder at airt.ai, Filip Panjevic, Co-founder at ydrive.ai and Darko Jovisic, Co-founder at Robotiq.ai.

    Program starts at 10:30 CET.

Keynote talk: Quantum Computing & AGI – Peter Morgan

In this Fireside chat you will get a chance to listen to the interview with Peter Morgan, CEO of Deep Learning Partnership. Peter Morgan is an acclaimed publisher with O’Reilly media, experienced keynote and leader of Data Science, AI & Quantum community in London.Through this Fireside chat will cover three important topics: What is quantum computing, difference between quantum and classical computing, as well as what is the role of Quantum Computing in developing AGI.

    Program starts at 11:30 CET.

Data Discussion: ”AI Monetization"" - Tomislav Krizan, Ana-Marija Petric, Filip Jekic

In simple terms, there are two main ways you can monetize AI. You can do so indirectly, by making AI part of your products or services, or directly, by selling AI capabilities to customers who in turn apply it to solve particular problems or build their own AI-enhanced offerings. In this inspiring discussion you will get a chance to hear how development of an AI product looks, what are the major differences between direct & indirect monetization and what are the major obstacles in AI going more into production. Panelist are going to be Tomislav Krizan, CEO at Atomic Intelligence, Ana-Marija Petric, Principal Consultant at Poslovna Inteligencija, and Filip Jekic, Lead Data Scientist at ASW Inženjering.

    Program starts at 13:15 CET.

Data Science & ML in Astronomy - Petar Zecevic

Petar Zecevic is CTO at SV group and PhD Student at FER, University of Zagreb. He has over 17 years of experience with Data & AI.In his talk, Petar will focus on the application of Data Science in astronomy, giving two concrete examples from his PhD thesis of how ML & AI may be used in this field.

    Program starts at 14:30 CET.

Ethics in AI - Sray Agarwal

The suitability of Machine Learning models is traditionally measured on its accuracy. A highly accurate model based on accuracy metrics are considered to be high performing models. While such accuracy metrics important, are there other metrics that the data science community has been ignoring so far? The answer is yes—in the pursuit of accuracy, most models sacrifice “fairness” and “interpretability.” Rarely, a data scientist tries to dissect a model to find out if the model follows all ethical norms. This is where machine learning fairness and interpretability of models come into being.if a business differentiates against a person solely due to the fact that they are a person of color, it would be considered unethical and illegal. However, some ML models in banks today do exactly that, by having a feature encoding the race of each applicant. This is against the concept of fairness. It’s important for an organization to ensure models are fair and accountable. The first step towards this would be to understand the distribution of sensitive features (like age, gender, color, race, nationality) to the outcome features (default, reject, approve, high rate, etc).

    Program starts at 15:00 CET.
